There has been a lot of discussion over the years, especially as of late, of how artists do what they do.
“It must be a natural gift.”
What a sad way of viewing the world. And probably not something you would say about someone who is incredibly gifted at filing taxes.
Yet art is viewed as something unteachable. Good art, even moreso. And I believe that’s where the hangup lies for most people. Fear of their art not being good.
So, instead of rambling on about how “art is subjective” and “there’s no such thing as bad art”, I’m going to provide you with one absolutely infallible fact: everyone thinks their art is bad. Is it? Who knows.
And you have to be okay with that.
